Hotel Verde is a 4-star sustainable hotel and the first hotel in the world to be certified LEED Platinum for both new construction and Operations and Maintenance from the Unites States Green Building Council.  Multi award winning and six star rated by the Green Building Council of South Africa this hotel showcases pioneered sustainability at its best.  The guided tour around this amazing facility will expose you to some of the most advanced sustainable interventions including wind turbines, photovoltaic panels, geothermal technology, regenerative drive elevators, grey water recycling, responsible procurement, urban beehives, waste management, a vegetated green roof, occupancy sensors and biodiversity management.

Visit 2: Durbanville Hills Wine Estate

The Durbanville Hills cellar, situated a mere 20 minutes from Cape Town’s city centre and ten minutes from Century City, overlooks Table Mountain, Table Bay and Robben Island.  Amidst the scenic landscape the wines produced here express a unique synergy between the cool climate location and the very best in winemaking. Our unique location makes all the difference, offering a diverse landscape from which to make a range of classic red and white wines across three wine ranges.  Durbanville Hills Winery boasts environmentally friendly grape-growing practices known as the Integrated Production of Wine (IPW). This covers harvesting, the transportation of grapes, winemaking processes and wasting management; practices which are critical to securing long-term sustainability of non-renewable resources.  Enjoy a private guided tour of the processes behind this impressive establishment.

Visit 3: Woolworths Distribution Centre

Woolworths Holdings Limited Group is a southern hemisphere retail group, with its head office in South Africa, listed on the JSE Limited Securities Exchange (JSE) since 1997. It is one of the top 40 JSE-listed companies and had a market capitalisation of R100.5 billion at 28 June 2015. 40% of revenue (including concession sales) is generated in Australasia.

Woolworths has invited us to view their impressive consolidated Foods Supply Chain Distribution Centre in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. Furthermore they will be sharing their ideas regarding the future strategy and positioning of Woolworths in the marketplace. Thereafter a site walk will be conducted on the facility that services Western Cape and surrounding regions in Southern Africa.

Enjoy a fantastic beer experience and a taste of history by joining one of SAB’s fully guided tours.  Attendees will be taken behind the scenes with a brief overview of the history of the company and the operations footprint in South Africa including the SAB supply chain and procurement processes, planning and plant scheduling.  Newlands Brewery, dating back to 1820 is the oldest operating brewery in South Africa and the home of great South African beer.  End the tour with a beer tasting and a couple of pints at the brewery’s historic pub.

Visit 6 : Cipla Medpro

Moving medicine with Cipla Medpro

Join us for a site visit that will reveal the Cipla Medpro building planning and commissioning process as well as the daily operations.  Cipla Medpro will share with you the challenges experienced in the past and at present as well as the gains that have been made through substantial investment. Meeting the distribution demands and the expansion of the business Cipla invested R200m in a state of the art 16500m2, 15m high facility under eaves.  The environment inside the building is fully climate controlled by means of a highly advanced HVAC system.  The operating facility is fully compliant to Good Distribution and Warehousing Practices (W.H.O. and Medicines Council of SA).

A Taste of the Appletiser Supply Chain

Join us as we take a talk and walk with Appletiser SA through their Elgin production factory to get a better understanding of how Appletiser’s success comes about.  The Elgin valley is the birthplace of Appletiser, a healthy, lightly carbonate refreshing drink, blended with ultimate skill and care.  Whilst Appletiser and Grapetiser is primarily sold in its home market of South Africa, the brand is also marketed in SADC, UK, Belgium, Canary Islands, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand.  With the brand recently acquired by the Coca-Cola Company the Elgin site is now a production site as part of the newly formed Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa.  Visitors will receive a presentation by Appletiser’s Supply Chain Manager, followed by a tour through the production facility.
